The Secret to Conquering the Ice Bath
Nervous about the ice bath?
We’ve noticed a lot of first-time guests skip the ice bath because it feels too intimidating. But the ice bath is designed to help you, not hurt you! Before your next plunge, try taking inspiration from the 3 pillars of the Wim Hof Method.
Pillar 1: Breath
Your breath is your anchor. Before entering the ice bath, take a few slow, controlled breaths. When the cold hits, resist the urge to panic or hold your breath. Instead, focus on steady inhales and longer exhales. The cold feels more manageable when you stop fighting it.
Pillar 2: Cold Exposure
The goal here is to gradually teach your body that the cold is safe. Step in slowly, relax your shoulders and give yourself time to adjust. Even 30 seconds is enough to begin building confidence. Every ice bath gets easier than the last.
Pillar 3: Mindset
The cold isn't the challenge, your reaction to it is. Instead of thinking, "I need to get out”, try, "I can stay present." The discomfort is temporary, and the sense of accomplishment lasts much longer. Mindset turns resistance into resilience.
Do this and discover what happens when you go beyond the discomfort.
